Elbow Pain

Elbow pain can have some significant impacts on people’s daily lives. Not only pain, but elbow dysfunction can create problems with the hand and wrist also. Many people suffering from elbow pain notice impaired function of their hands, particularly grip strength.

Elbow pain is particularly common among people who play racquet or stick sports, such as; golf, hockey, tennis, badminton, or table tennis. It is also a common condition in tradespeople who do manual, or repetitive work.

Types of elbow pain:

Lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow), medial epicondylitis (golfers elbow), fractures, muscular imbalances, and joint arthritis.

Causes of elbow pain:

  • Trauma
  • Repetitive microtrauma (golfers/tennis elbow)
  • Overuse (manual labor)
  • Poor posture (shoulder rounding forwards)
  • Inflammation
  • Underlying disease or pathology (rare)

What is the most common cause of elbow pain?

Once we have ruled out any underlying disease or problem such as a fracture,  the most common cause of elbow pain is mechanical in nature. Elbow pain often is the result of poor shoulder stability and position. This causes excessive tension and stress at the elbow joint as a compensation pattern by the shoulder and spine. Overuse injuries are all very common.

How does chiropractic help people with elbow pain?

At University Park Chiropractic we take a holistic approach to elbow pain, we treat your entire body, not just at the site of injury. There can be many factors in what is causing your elbow pain, so it is essential we provide an accurate diagnosis.

Our process involves a complimentary consultation which allows us to determine if we are in fact the right people to help you. If we are not, we will be sure to refer you to the right people. If we deem that we can help you, you will move on to a paid examination.

During this examination process, we will perform a range of orthopedic, neurological, and musculoskeletal tests in order to find out what is the problem. Once we have all of this information, we will report back to you with our findings.

From here we will create a personalized treatment plan, designed to help you recover naturally. Our treatment approach will include spinal adjustments, adjustments to the joints of the body, muscle work, plus the prescription of rehab exercises and stretches.

With elbow pain, we will also look at the lifestyle factors that have led to the injury and help you make modifications as necessary to prevent future instances.

Dr. Hancock is a gem, so fortunate to have found him. He took a very thorough medical history and identified exactly what was wrong. The team is caring, personable, and very accommodating. My visits not only support my physical health but also cleared the “mental fog” relating to my neck injury. Dr. Hancock has the gift of healing. Would definitely recommend it!

Best. Decision. Ever!! Dr. Hancock really knows what he's doing and he explains everything he is doing! I've only gotten better since coming here. Additionally, for my treatment, I have multiple comparison x-rays, which is great to see the progress of the process. The staff is amazing, so helpful, so warm, and so friendly! (Additionally, the office is so clean and welcoming) I am disappointed that I'll be moving away to the other side of the country and will have to continue treatments at a new office. I really don't think I can find an office as warm as the UP Chiro crew or a Dr. as great as Dr. Hancock! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND DR. HANCOCK! You will not regret this!!

Dr. Kevin Hancock and his staff are very kind, courteous, and helpful. I feel very comfortable with them after my consultation and x-rays. My Chiropractor (for the last 20 years) retired when Covid-19 hit everyone in March 2020. Been looking for a Chiropractor ever since. Highly recommend it and can't wait for my 1st adjustment next week!

Very knowledgeable, and already seeing a difference in my back pain with just two adjustments. The chiropractor is extremely nice and has helped me pinpoint other issues and work on those. Would recommend them to anyone and everyone to come and try them out!! The staff is very nice and welcoming to everyone.

Dr. Hancock is absolutely AMAZING! He goes above and beyond to explain the anatomical and physiological aspects that caused my pain. I’ve had one adjustment and this is the first time I haven’t been in any pain in over 7 years! The receptionist is so nice and friendly! I cannot wait to see the changes as I continue to get adjusted.

I found Dr. Hancock through a friend and has been the best experience. I went to him and could barely stand up. I'm now back to normal activity. Everyone in the office is also just as great and welcoming! I highly recommend it.

Before coming here I personally had gone to multiple chiropractor offices in search to find the root of the problem with my back. Dr. Hancock has been by far the most absolutely helpful chiropractor I've worked with. I plan on staying here at this office without question. He's very informative and helped me better understand why and what exactly is going on along with explaining very well what the next steps moving forward will be. It's been a series of months now going to this office and since the first month, I finally felt hope again. If you've struggled with constant back pain, like I have for a number of years, and are looking to be free from that pain, I highly recommend this center. Treatment can make you very sensitive. I cried from happiness to finally see improvement and feel pain-free. I’m excited to continue to work with Dr. Hancock and would highly recommend others to see him as well.
